studio maicone's practice explores the elusive phenomena and sensations that emerge in the spaces between time and human experience, and between space and human presence.

 

The “moment” we inhabit is a continuous sequence of fleeting moments, each contributing to the formation of time.
At the same time, within each “now” exists another kind of interval — a subtle space that emerges between people and their surroundings, between the body and the space it inhabits.

 

The studio considers these intervals as ambiguous, in-between realms, and explores why she finds herself repeatedly pausing within them. Through textiles, we bring these phenomena into being, using light, shadow, transparency, movement, touch, and the distance between the body and its surroundings as ways of exploring how we perceive time and space.

 

Textiles are not simply materials for covering or decorating space; they have the ability to alter the relationship between the body and its surroundings. Moving between weaving, dyeing, and other textile processes, as well as industrial technologies and materials, we explores the possibilities of textiles as a medium for creating spatial experiences.

 

Our practice does not seek to present a single answer. Instead, it is an ongoing process of gathering fleeting moments, observing the spaces in between, and allowing questions to unfold through making.

 

Through textiles, she continues to gather the “moment” — exploring the spaces between time, space, and human experience that have yet to be fully articulated.
